FeiyuTech launched the Feiyu Pocket 4 today, October 28, 2026. It is a three-axis pocket gimbal camera that sells for $299, which makes it one of the least expensive ways to get smooth, stabilized 4K video in a camera that fits in a jacket pocket. Just a few days ago we wrote about DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4P and the catch for U.S. buyers. The Pocket 4 is interesting for the opposite reason: it is cheap, and it ships from a U.S. warehouse.
If you plan conferences, summits, mixers, or company events in San Antonio, here is what this new camera does, where it falls short, and how a pocket gimbal fits next to professional event photography.
What FeiyuTech announced
Based on FeiyuTech’s official product page and the launch coverage from CineD, the key specs are:
- 1/1.55-inch, 50MP sensor behind a wide 110-degree, f/2.2 lens. That is a big jump from the small 1/2.3-inch sensor in the older Pocket 3.
- 4K video up to 60fps, plus 1080p up to 120fps for slow motion, at up to 80 Mbps.
- 111GB of built-in storage and no memory card slot. FeiyuTech rates it at roughly 875 minutes of Full HD video.
- A sliding 2.64-inch square touchscreen. Slide it down to power on and shoot; slide it up to lock the gimbal and close a built-in lens cover. No separate case needed.
- Vertical without rotating. You can pick 16:9, 4:3 or 9:16 framing right on the screen, which is handy for Reels and TikTok.
- On-camera face and subject tracking with gesture control, plus a 450-degree pan range.
- Price: $299 for the Standard Kit, or $379 for a Creator Kit that adds a microphone and battery handle and a tripod. It is available now from FeiyuTech’s online store, with free shipping from a U.S. warehouse.
The trade-offs to know about
The lower price comes with real compromises, and CineD’s comparison lays them out clearly:
- No autofocus. The lens is fixed focus. That is fine for room-wide shots, but close-up product details or tight talking-head clips will not be as crisp as on a camera with autofocus.
- No log profile or 10-bit mode listed. Footage is meant to look good straight out of camera, not to be color graded to match a brand look.
- Audio is the weak spot. The Pocket 4 records with its built-in microphone, and FeiyuTech’s own comparison lists no external microphone support on the camera itself. For speeches and panels, clean sound matters as much as the picture.
- No card slot. When the internal storage fills up, you have to offload over USB-C or Wi-Fi before you can keep shooting.
- Battery life is rated around 1.5 hours at 4K/60 and up to 2.5 hours at 1080p/30, so a full-day event needs a charging plan.
DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4 has a larger 1-inch sensor, autofocus, 10-bit D-Log, a card slot and direct wireless mic pairing. It also costs noticeably more. The Feiyu is the budget pick, not the pro pick.
Where a pocket gimbal fits at your event
At events we see more and more teams want short video for social media the same day. A small stabilized camera like this is a good fit for that job:
- A quick walk-through of the venue before doors open.
- Vertical clips of the registration line, the crowd filling in, or the networking hour.
- A few seconds of the keynote for a recap reel.
- Behind-the-scenes moments for Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok.
What it does not replace is planned event photography. The sharp, well-lit stills of speakers, sponsors, award moments, group photos and headshots come from a full camera kit, fast lenses and lighting, plus the careful culling and editing that makes a gallery look consistent from start to finish. Those are the images that live on your website, in press releases and in sponsor reports for months.
Practical takeaways for San Antonio event planners
- Give the pocket camera to one person. A social media lead or volunteer can own quick video while your photographer focuses on the stills.
- Plan for audio. If you want usable speech clips, budget for a proper microphone setup or pull audio from the venue’s sound system.
- Light helps every camera. Hotel ballrooms and evening receptions are dim. Good light on the stage and the step-and-repeat improves photos and phone or pocket video alike.
- Offload during breaks. With no card slot, set a time to move files before the storage fills up.
- Buy where support is easy. For gear you will rely on at paid events, a clear warranty and returns path matters as much as the spec sheet.
The bottom line
The Feiyu Pocket 4 makes stabilized 4K social video more affordable than ever, and the sliding cover and big built-in storage are smart touches. It is a nice tool for recap content. For the photos that represent your organization long after the event is over, it still pays to book a dedicated photographer. If you are planning an event or a headshot day in San Antonio, Grey Bug Photography is happy to help you plan coverage that works alongside your social video.
